VISIT THIS VINE

"Return, we beseech thee, O God of Hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;" Psalm 80:14
JOAN'S POEM - STEED OF THE SKIES

Steed Of The Skies

or

Cowboy Of The Winds

Dedicated to Professional Pilot and Brother, Steve Lee

Dedicated to Certified Flight Instructor and Son, Jeremy Binkley

Dedicated to Student Pilot and Son, Graham Binkley

Upward I gaze as a jet splits the skies--

--A Steed made of rivets and steel--,

And that cowboy -- that Cowboy Of The Winds--

--Is the Pilot with his Grand Steed at heel.

His Steed he has tamed and shod well the beast

Keeping ‘ore powerful Steed a tight reign;

Of one accord the twain conquering ride

That Cowboy Pilot and His Plane.

The cowboy of ‘ore sang “Don’t fence me in…

Just give me open range and a steed

Out under the sun and under the stars

With saddle and trail beneath me.”

Gone is the cowboy of the Wild Wild West

Yet still there is one in his stead

Who tames his Steed and conquers his ride

And charters the heavens instead.

Upward I gaze as a jet splits the skies--

--A Steed made of rivets and steel,

And that cowboy -- that Cowboy Of The Winds--

--Is the Pilot with his Grand Steed at heel.
